The NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments, known more commonly as March Madness, are cancelled, but we want to talk about a different kind of madness. A madness around trying everything under the sun in the name of wellness.
When it comes to taking care of yourself, it is all about maintenance, not madness.
Maintenance is a boring word. It has a laborious undertone. It is this thing for grown-up stuff like our car or house or bike that we usually forget to do. But, maintaining the health of our body, mind and sleep is actually one of the most inspiring things we can do for ourselves!
Maintenance is upkeep. It is preservation. It is a consistent sleepcare ritual, (and yes, that means even when we travel). It is finding the wellness practices that work for us and inserting them into the rhythm of our life every damn day. It is investing in quality bedsheets that will work for you, not against you.
We all have heard the saying; we are creatures of habit. We hear it constantly because it holds truth.
Maintaining our daily sleepcare and wellness practices helps combat insomnia. For example, going to bed at the same time every night and waking up at the same time is the most effective way to improve our sleep quality.
Daily self-care routines can also reduce anxiety and stress because there is grounding to repeating practices day in and day out. Our routine provides an outline, a plan for our morning and/or night. We can’t anticipate everything, but with consistent wellness practices in place, we can handle unexpected challenges with a balanced head and heart.
Madness, in some form or another, will always be around us. There will always be a new wellness practice to try. It is one of the reasons we believe in our soft sheets so much. It is a sleepcare act that requires minimal effort other then, well, sleeping. Our technology takes care of the rest.
But, see, this is what we are saying… in this day and age, maintaining consistency in a few sleepcare practices, the ones that fit you best and make you self-full, is actually a radical act. Maintenance is necessary to your wellbeing, and that makes it exciting!
